Troubleshooting prompts for installation when client is opened
After installing Windows update KB5028244, users might find that when clicking on the Internal Audit launch icon they are prompted to install the application again:
They will continue to be prompted to reinstall at each launch of the software.
This is a known issue with update KB5028244, described by Microsoft in this article: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/resolved-issues-windows-10-22h2#3145msgdesc.
The temporary workaround is to:
- Uninstall the Internal Audit client (the process for doing this is documented at https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/uninstall-or-remove-apps-and-programs-in-windows-4b55f974-2cc6-2d2b-d092-5905080eaf98#ID0EBD=Windows_10)
- Re-install the client
Solution
Microsoft released a fix for this problem on the 14th August 2023, and some PC's will automatically download and apply this in the coming days.
