"Offline instance does not exist" error when checking in, syncing, or undoing check out
Who is this article for?Users who are responsible for checking audits in/out.
No elevated access or permissions are required.
When using the Check Out, Check In/Sync, or Undo Check Out options, you may see the following message:
This message appears in the situations described below.
1. Audit was not checked out by you
In this situation:
- Someone else checked out the audit.
- You then clicked Check In/Sync or Undo Check Out for that audit.
As you don't have the audit checked out, you don't have an offline instance to check in or undo.
To find out who has an audit checked out, hover the mouse over the audit name to display a pop-up with the other user's name. Alternatively, you can add the 'Offline Check Out By' column to the data grid.
To resolve the issue:
- Ask the other user to do the check in.
- Alternatively, you can use the Admin Undo Check Out feature (other user's updates will be lost).
2. Audit was checked out by you, but the local store has been deleted
In this situation:
- You checked out the audit.
- After that, the folder %localappdata%\Vision\[instance name]\Offline (in your user profile) was deleted or is not available at that time.
This might indicate a problem with how your user profile is maintained and it may be necessary to engage your IT department to troubleshoot this further.
