Troubleshooting "You are not authorized to use Pentana" error

This article walks you through the steps to troubleshoot the error using the Login Activity screen, and how to resolve it.
1. Issue
When accessing the Web interface, the user encounters the following error: "You are not authorized to use Pentana".
Its causes vary depending on the authentication type used.
FBA authentication
User does not have Launch Web . . . permissions for any module.
Windows authentication
User does not have Launch Web . . . permissions for any module or they are a domain user without a matching identity in the application.
If the user enters the wrong username or password then, they will see the message "Login failed, please check Username/Password".
2. Solution
To resolve this error:
- Confirm the authentication method used.
- Confirm behaviour and cause by reviewing the content of the Login Activity screen,
- Apply the appropriate solution.
