Understanding Risks, Controls, and Tests within Entities
Who is this article for?
Administrators that need to understand Risks, Controls, and Tests within Entities.
Administrator access to the Universe module is required.
The display mode allows you to review and document Objectives, Risks, Controls, Tests, and Samples for each process that applies within an Entity.
1. Accessing the display toolbar
The display toolbar is located in the Ribbon and updates the screen to show the designated perspective. When you select a record on the Data Grid, a right mouse click menu becomes available, allowing you to quickly access functionality such as add, delete, get, update, copy, paste, and sign off.
2. Adding new records
You can add new records in several ways:
- Creating them manually
- Using the Get from Library functionality
- Using the Get from Entity functionality
The mapped processes for the entity ensure that only valid selections are created.
You can also capture Risk and Control Assessments over time and define the Tests that will need to be executed when performing Audits of the entity.
3. Understanding record sources and library links
The system distinguishes between records that have been added manually and those that have been retrieved from the Library using icon overlays. Records from the Library are linked back to their source and display the Guidance.
Icon overlays with a top left gold star indicate the record is linked to the library.
If you wish to explicitly break the link between a record and its corresponding Library item, you can use the Break Link command. The icon will revert to the standard image as if the item was added in the Entity.
Important: This is an irreversible process and is not allowed if the item is also Locked.
4. Configuring screen layouts
The screens can be highly configured using the Data Grid, and you can save the layout using the Views functionality.
