Understanding Risk exposure
Who is this article for?
Users who need to understand Risk exposure.
No special access or permissions are required.
The Risk Exposure screen displays the analysis of Entity Risks across the Universe with risk scores and colours being calculated and rolled up through the matrix of Org Units and Process Areas.
1. Accessing the Risk Exposure screen
To access the Risk Exposure screen go to:
- Universe
- Analyse
- Risk Exposure
2. Understanding key features
The Risk Exposure screen includes the following features:
- Matrix Score Roll up by Local or Group matrix configurations. If all Entities below the selected node use a matching Matrix Configuration (which is different from the Group configuration) then the option to show a Local Roll Up will be enabled
- Toggle the Score by inherent or residual risk assessment scores
- Toggle the Assessments by internal or external risk assessments
- Apply pre-filters in the Expander Bar to adjust results
- Click on any cell to display relevant Entity Risks in the data grid and drill-through into the detail
- Charting options - select different segmentations from the available list of categories
3. Configuring risk calculations
To drive the calculation each Risk Likelihood and Impact cell is allocated a score. The out of the box configuration is shown below but can be customised.
The Risk Rating segmentation can be configured to set the levels required.
4. Viewing risk movement
When you toggle on the Show Movement, the contents on the matrix change:
The rolled-up assessment value is shown in the cell.
For all cells with values (that is, not ones with a hyphen):
- If the previous assessment score value is the same as the current, the Unchanged icon is shown
- If the previous assessment score value is less than the current, the Increasing icon is shown
- If the previous assessment score value is more than the current, the Decreasing icon is shown
- If the current rolled-up score colour is different to the previous rolled-up score colour then the colour of the current rolled-up score is shown (the same as it would be when movement is not shown). This therefore only colours cells whose overall rolled-up values have changed considerably (that is, from one colour to another)
If you hover over a cell, it will show the previous score and colour, as well as the current score and colour.
Note: The optional Multiple Risk Impacts are available on this screen if enabled.
