Installing the application on a new PC
Who is this article for?
Users installing the application.
IT Administrator permissions may be required, depending on the deployment mechanism.
This article explains how to install Ideagen Internal Audit (Aura) on a new Windows PC. There are two common ways the application may be delivered to you:
- ClickOnce (Web-based install) - You install the app yourself by visiting a URL in your browser.
- Windows Group Policy - Your IT department pushes the application to your PC automatically. You may not need to do anything.
- XCopy - You install the app yourself using a ZIP file provided by your IT department. This method is used less commonly.
If you are unsure which method applies to you, contact your System Administrator.
1. ClickOnce deployment
To install using ClickOnce:
- Get your organisation's Deployment URL.
It will look like the following:- Live system - https://server.domain.com/PentanaPRD/Client
- Test system - https://server.domain.com/PentanaUAT/Client
- Open Microsoft Edge on your PC.
It must be Edge, ClickOnce will not work with other browsers (e.g. Google Chrome). - Browse to your organisation’s deployment URL.
- Click the Install button on the page.
This will download and launch the installer.
The install will complete automatically, and you will find the launch icon in your start menu.
If you don't know your Deployment URL, you can:
- Open a ticket if you are a hosted customer.
- Contact your System Administrator if you are an on-premise customer
2. Windows Group Policy deployment
In many corporate environments, the application is deployed automatically by your IT team using Windows Group Policy.
If this applies to you, the application may already be installed and can be found in your Start menu.
If it is not yet visible, your PC may need to be restarted or connected to the corporate network to receive the deployment. You do not need to visit any URL or download anything manually.
3. XCopy deployment
In some cases, your IT team may provide the application as a ZIP archive rather than a Web-based installer.
To install using XCopy:
- Locate the downloaded ZIP file in File Explorer.
- Right-click the file.
- Select Properties.
- Tick Unblock.
- Click OK.
- Extract the ZIP file as normal.
- Run the installer.
