Ideagen Internal Audit (Aura) is designed to protect data integrity by preventing deletion of completed audit records. This article explains why bulk deletion is complex, how the Delete Audits customisation package addresses this, and how to request or access it.
Why Deleting Audits Is Difficult
The application intentionally restricts the deletion of audit records to preserve data integrity. Once any record has been set to Completed, it cannot be deleted. Furthermore, a parent record cannot be deleted if it contains even a single child record Completed status.
This means that manually deleting an Audit requires reverting every associated record back to Open before deletion is possible, which is an extremely time-consuming process.
While this is beneficial for data integrity, it creates a challenge for organisations with data retention policies that require audits to be deleted after a certain period.
The Delete Audits Customisation Package
To support bulk deletion at scale, Ideagen provides a customisation package called Delete Audits. This package runs server-side with all users offline, and deletes all audits that meet defined criteria — typically a specific Audit Period (for example, 2019 or earlier).
Process Overview
The standard process for running the package is:
- Tailor the Delete Audits package to the appropriate criteria

Run in UAT to verify:
- The correct data will be deleted
- The expected run time
- Run in Production at an agreed time
Version Requirements
The Delete Audits package requires version 5.4.0.x or 6.0.1.x of the application.
How to Request Bulk Audit Deletion
Hosted customers should raise a request with Ideagen Support, who will forward it to the Implementation team.

Costs and Tailoring
The package is configured to delete all Audits within a defined Audit Period, at no additional charge. If deletion based on different criteria is required, this will involve the Technical Services team and will incur a cost. Please contact your Account Manager for further information.
