Troubleshooting the "Save encountered an error" error in WebUI
In the Internal Audit WebUI, if you try to save a record then you might get this error:
The cause is the use of certain special characters in standard text fields. Internal Audit bans the following characters by default:
: = / \ [ ] { } + £ ~ @ # $ ^ * ; < > €
There are two possible solutions:
- Edit the text fields so that these illegal characters aren't used (NB: this affects only standard text boxes, not rich text)
- Update the system so that the desired characters are allowed, as described below
Adding characters to the Additional Web Characters whitelist
- As an administrative user, open the Internal Audit desktop application
- Go to System Settings > Security
- In the Additional Web Characters box, add the required characters. Add the characters in one long list, with no spaces or commas. As an example, to add €, $ and £ enter €$£ like this:
- Save the change
- Close your browser and log back in - it should now be possible to use the specificied characters
