Ideagen Internal Audit (Aura): What are mapped Milestones?
Pentana allows an Audit to have any number of Milestones.
The Milestones Library contains a standard set:
Start Audit, Issue Report and End Audit have always been supplied as part of the Library, whereas Controls ready for Certification and Processes ready for Certification are added with the v6 upgrade, and hence are not Active by default.
More Milestones can be added to the Library as required.
The three original Milestones have a special property - they are known as mapped milestones, meaning that they are able to appear in the Audit Details screen and have accompanying variance and target variance fields.
Example:
We can see the standard three plus two additional Milestones in the Library:
When an Audit is created, the Milestones relevant to the Audit Type are imported:
The Audit Properties screen shows the three mapped milestones:
The Impact of Making Mapped Milestones Inactive
If mapped Milestones are made Inactive in the Library, and therefore are not brought into Audits, then the Audit Details screen will be affected.
For example, if only Issue Report is left active in the Library, then only its pair of mapped Milestone fields will be visible in Audit Details:
If all mapped Milestones are made Inactive, then the Milestones panel will not be shown at all:
The Impact of Making Milestones Active
Even if you make mapped Milestones Inactive in the Library, you will continue to see these mapped Milestones in Audit Details for existing Audits, because changing the Library does not change existing Audit records.
The way to make them appear in Audit Details in new Audits will be to make them Active in the Library again, although:
- that will not affect existing Audits where the Milestones do not currently appear, unless you Get and Refresh from Library
- note that doing a Refresh will not remove Milestones that you have since made Inactive in the Library
